WP Themes
Updated often, here is a list of themes I currently pre-install on my blog set ups for members and clients. Some themes have ‘options’ so you can change color schemes and the like from your dashboard.
All these themes were designed to be free. Many designers offer this free service as they put their links into, usually, the ‘footer’ of the design. I respect that and therefore all those links remain intact. In some cases you can pay the designer to have the links removed or get permission to remove them yourself.
If you have a problem with any of the themes or questions re their use etc. please direct them to the creator of the theme (link found in your WP Dashboard).
Here are links for the current installed themes to see them in action in demo mode ( they all open in new window):
Dark Effect 3 colour schemes built in
Cutline randomized logos? I wouldn’t bother
Ikarus more option built into the theme than seems possible!
Deep Blue the variant that lets you add 6 nice 125 x 125 banner ads
Mandigo 7 colour schemes, 2 widths included
Freshy2 cool theme options + I include customization widget for more
Revolution all 3 blog variations are included (this blog uses this theme!)
If you are a Wordpress theme designer who would like your theme included in our installation package please contact the blog with details and examples of your theme in action - widget ready only themes please. All themes need to fit seamlessly with Wordpress 2.5 or higher.
The themes above are ones we like but, of course, you can upload as many as you like, hey! it’s your blog! You need to have an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) bit of software and I recommend the free Open Source Filezilla. Once you get the hang of FTP it’s a piece of cake).
Although there are thousands of free WP themes out there so I certainly haven’t seen them all by any means and I also use paid for professional themes on occasion such as Solostream and Brian Gardner. Check ‘em out - if you buy one through a link on this blog I’ll install that for you too.
Go easy on uploading new plugins though! many old plugins can break a new wordpress blog so be careful. But you’ve got all the cool stuff already and, by staying subscribed to my newsletter you’ll know when there’s a new must-have plugin to upload.
The thing is that swapping between themes won’t change your blog content or Wordpress settings - that, in a nutshell, is the glory of running a self-hosted Wordpress blog ![]()
